Bowland Breaks

Things to do in 48hours in the Forest of Bowland.

We thought it would be a helpful if we did a blog on some of the things to do in 48hours in the Forest of Bowland when you are on a couples break at Cobble View Cottage in Waddington enabling you to make the most of your time away.

Arrival Day – Friday afternoon.

  • Arrive at the cottage late afternoon, unpack your belongings then head off for a stroll around the village. Its a quaint beautiful village with a babbling brook running through it and many public seating areas in the gardens. This is a lovely spot to just relax and enjoy the surroundings. If you are feeling more energetic then there are a few walks you can do – check out www.explorebowland.co,uk for walks in and around the area.
  • If you prefer to just take some time out then visit the 3 eateries in the village they are all excellent for food/ drink and have a great ambience there is Lower Buck, Higher Buck or Waddington Arms.

Once fed and watered then head back to the cottage, sit down and relax with a drink and cosy up in front of the television before heading off to the comfy beds for a good nights sleep.

There are lots of independent cocktail bars and wine bars too many to mention but check out the Ribble Valley Ribble Valley – Visit Ribble ValleyVisit Ribble Valley lots of information and recommendations.

Clitheroe Castle is also a nice place to walk round, if you climb to the top you will get a lovely view of the Town and surrounding area.

After all that it will be time to head back to the cottage and have a lovely relaxing night.

Unfortunately all good things need to come to an end , it will be time to pack up and head off back home. A visit to Shackletons Garden Centre is worthy especially dropping in at the cafe for breakfast before you go on your homeward journey.
