Days out with the kids at Billy Bobs

Venturing out with the little ones can be a joy, especially when you stumble upon hidden gems like Billy Bob’s Outdoor and Indoor play area. Join us on our recent escapade with our niece (7) and nephew (4), as we discovered this fantastic new attraction just a short drive from The Shippon Luxury Holiday Let.

Here’s the Inside Scoop:

📍 Location: Nestled off Garstang Road in Barton, Preston, conveniently close to the M55.

🚗 Parking: Ample and free parking on-site.

💸 Entry Fee: A mere £3 for a child’s entry, inclusive of a 2-hour play wristband.

🌳 Play Zones: A sprawling outdoor play park and a barn filled with rope swings, zip wires, and slides.

🍦 Refreshments: The huge diner offers a delightful array of milkshakes, ice cream, waffles, and pancakes, as well as hot drinks for the adults.

🚫 Food Policy: No outside food allowed, but fear not, the on-site offerings are diverse and delicious.

🚽 Facilities: While the toilets may resemble port-a-loos, they are, in fact, proper restrooms!

From The Shippon, a quick 20-minute drive leads you to this haven of family fun. Turning off the A6 at Southplanks and following the road to the right lands you in Billy Bob’s expansive car park. With a nominal £3 entry fee for 2 hours of play, we found it to be excellent value for money.

Indoor Excitement: Stepping inside, the indoor barn unfolds into three distinct sections. To the right, an array of slides, rope swings, and hay bales awaits. The middle section boasts more rope swings, a soft foam pit, and even a bucking bull. On the left, enjoy a couple of thrilling zip wires. While the kids immersed themselves in joy, we recommend keeping coats handy for the slightly chilly indoor space.

Outdoor Adventures: Outside, a vast play area beckons with climbing frames fashioned as transport vehicles, each equipped with its own slide. Catering vans dotted around offer a variety of treats at reasonable prices, ensuring no one goes hungry. Seating areas abound, providing a perfect spot for parents to relax.

Quirky Extras: Adding to the charm is an old American School Bus converted into a cozy space with tables and chairs. Here, you can enjoy refreshments, and the kids can indulge in pretend bus driving.

In Summary: Our afternoon at Billy Bob’s was a resounding success. The kids reveled in the diverse play options, and we’re already planning our return. The site appears to be evolving, mirroring another delightful location at Skipton with an American Diner theme. BILLY BOBS
